FINALLY, I'm back!!

Well, it's been a long time since I have put anything in my blog, sorry. Not sure who reads it anyway but I'll put a few photos in and see how it goes. :) After Bandera TX dance rally I went to Denison TX to visit two of my daughters and my grandchildren. Had a good time but also had to have unexpected surgery and was laid up for a couple months. All is well now, thank you.

After we left Texas I finally caught up with my WIN friends in Bizmark North Dakota who were on the Lewis & Clark trek from St. Louise MO toward Astoria OR were it would end.

This is my youngest grand child, Wyatt Glenn. Watch him grow!

I was with my daughter Elizabeth for her C-section. Here I am with my new grandson, Wyatt Glenn!. I felt right at home in this get-up.

Lone Rock BLM campground, Page AZ

Ever sit and enjoy the sunrise, or marvel at a beautiful rainbow. Well, with the 4 days of stormy weather I got to enjoy both.

See the rain in the right side of the photo?

We saw water falls where none existed before the rain.

I looked but never found the pot of gold.

Horseshoe Bend near Page Utah

Horseshoe Bend is a stiff hike through sand both there and back. Uphill, down then long uphill again! This is the path up in the sand and then way down to the overlook.It is toooo huge to get the whole picture of both sides.

Tiny little camp site way, way down there.

We hiked down an overlook with hands rails, if you can believe it, to see the back side of the dam. It was easy going down, as down usually is but even with the rail and the altitude in this part of the country we got a little breathless but did fine.

We had rain the last 4 days staying at Lone Rock Campground with hail once. The roads washed out but there were waterfalls we saw running down the cliffs along the road.

The land in Utah is so beautiful and red. Large unusual sandstone and rock formations are awesome

Vermilion Cliffs, Utah

We went on a 4x4 ride to this area that is bright with the reds, grays, whites and greens. It was a great ride also.

Glenn Canyon Dam, Utah

What an amazing feat to corral the Colorado River with the Glenn Canyon Dam which helped create the massive Lake Powell. All types of water play and sport are experienced on the lake. The Dam has a great museum and tour. We camped at Lone Rock on the beach.

This photo of photos is of Page AZ early on before and during the building of Glenn Canyon Dam. The lower one is how Page looks most recently.

This bridge was already here before the dam was built and it is 700 feet above the water and spans 1028 feet and is 30 feet wide. In 1956 the survey to build the dam was completed.

This is excess water release and one of the turbines on display on the dam walkway.

Goosenecks State Reserve, Monument Valley, Utah

I would love to have seen the Goosenecks from the air. It was spectacular even from the very edge as I got the pictures. This little video shows how the river cuts a huge double S and thus is called "Goosenecks".

I hiked down a little way via this cut, to a flat area but still could not get the full curve into my camera. Oh well, it is still beautiful.

Monument Valley, Utah

This is Dan's RV heading into Monument Valley

Since this is Indian land a fee is charged to drive this road to look at the area up close. I chose to take pictures from afar for a better view of the beauty of these natural structures.

Moki Dugway, Utah

This was an awesome drive leaving Natural Bridges National Monument, down a switch back mountain on gravel with a 10% downgrade the whole way. We were in my Dodge Dakota and it did very well. What a view and what a drive!
